Central and Southern Virginia
- The Birdwood Mansion, located on the grounds of the Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville, is undergoing a renovation and expects to open its doors by April 2026. The historic property features four accommodations in the mansion, three adjacent cottages, and a culinary program that brings in some of the most experienced creative chefs from around the world to create seasonal, international tasting menus for the Birdwood Mansion’s dining room.
- A luxury wildlife retreat is coming to Halifax County in Spring 2026. A stay at Wilde Manor will include unforgettable encounters with wildlife and elegant suites.
- Get ready for a luxury glamping escape at Camp Yellow Cardinal, located just thirty minutes outside Richmond in Prince Edward County. Named for the lucky bird known for occasional sightings in the American South, Camp Yellow Cardinal will feature geodesic dome campsites with hot tubs, king-size beds, and fire pits.
- A new boutique hotel opens in Danville in February 2026. The Laurel Hotel is located in the historic Schoolfield Village, just steps from Caesars Virginia. It features 36 rooms with modern comforts, thoughtful decor, and attentive service.
- Craft beverages lovers will delight in the unique stay at Southern Revere Cellars. The new Airbnb in Louisa allows you to stay above the tasting room of the farm brewery and winery, located on 70 acres of rolling hills and farmland. With enough space for up to six guests (including furry friends), the spot is ideal for a friend group retreat or family getaway.
- Two new Shamin Hotels properties will open in 2026 in Henrico County at the Henrico Sports & Events Center: Residence Inn by Marriott and Home2 Suites by Hilton.
- A new micro-resort in Southern Virginia, Echo Valley promises boutique luxury in a natural setting. The resort is set to open in Spring 2026 in Dry Fork with five tiny-home-style units, a shared space for gatherings, and small gardens.
- The Hyatt Select Richmond/Chester opened in October 2025, 20 minutes outside Richmond. This opening celebrated a national milestone as the debut of the country’s first Hyatt Select. Following a $1.5 million transformation, the property blends modern style and comfort with signature hospitality. Guests enjoy convenient access to downtown Richmond, local dining, and top attractions like Henricus Historical Park and Pocahontas State Park.
- The LivAway Suites hotel, an extended‑stay property offering suite‑style rooms with in‑room kitchens, is under construction in Hopewell, VA, and is expected to open in late 2026.
Coastal Virginia – Chesapeake Bay, Hampton Roads, Eastern Shore
- StayApt Suites is adding an apartment-style hotel in the Coliseum area of Hampton in Summer 2026. The extended-stay hotel will have 103 suites.
- The historic Lilliston Building in Onancock is now available for bookings at the Short Stays on Market. This brand-new lodging option offers six uniquely decorated, individual short-stay apartments in the heart of downtown.
- The Inn at Montross reopened in December 2025 and is ready to welcome visitors. The historic bed & breakfast traces its roots back to taverns in the 17th century, but new renovations have transformed it into a cozy, inviting stay conveniently located for a small-town escape.
- FLOHOM offers a unique Virginia Beach waterfront stay in luxury houseboat suites featuring upscale amenities, optional add‑on experiences, and easy access to ocean adventures just minutes from Rudee Inlet Station Marina.
Northern Virginia
- Virginia’s first JW Marriott opened in Reston Station in September. The Northern Virginia hotel features 243 guest rooms, luxury residences, 35,000 square feet of meeting space, chef-driven dining at The Simon, and the elevated Schar Bar, along with wellness-focused Mindful Rooms, public art, and an innovative walkable garden.
- Home2 Suites by Hilton Ashburn is set to be the newest addition to Loudoun County’s growing hospitality scene. Conveniently located across from the upscale One Loudoun precinct, the property offers guests easy access to popular attractions like Topgolf, iFly, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and a wide selection of local restaurants and bars. Reservations are now open for stays beginning January 6.
- Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria introduced several updates in late 2025, including Alexandria’s only in-hotel spa, a cozy neighborhood bar, and refreshed rooms and public spaces that elevate the overall guest experience.
Shenandoah Valley
- Lexington is expected to welcome a new Residence Inn by Marriott in February 2026. It will feature 104 rooms, a fitness center, and a meeting event space.
Virginia Mountains
- New life is being given to what was once a historic bank in the heart of downtown Roanoke. The Promissory Hotel debuted on New Year’s Eve with 27 rooms — including suites and lofts — as well as The Exchange Music Hall, a 1,200-person performance venue, and a Spanish restaurant, ¡Suerte!
- Three Hill Historic Estate and Spa is set to open in Spring 2026. The boutique inn and spa is set on 44 acres in the renowned Warm Springs Valley, emphasizing natural wellness for all who stay.
- Extended Stay America Premier Suites is opening as Vinton’s first major hotel. Construction for the new Extended Stay America Premier Suites hotel began in early August at the intersection of W. Virginia Ave, S. Pollard St. and Cedar Ave. It is expected to open in September 2026.
Southwest Virginia – Blue Ridge Highlands and Heart of Appalachia
- Senator Suites in Richlands, Virginia, offers cozy, intimate suites designed for comfort and relaxation. Each suite features a comfortable bed, a sitting area, and essential amenities, with convenient access to nearby shopping and restaurants.
