This year for National Travel and Tourism Week, Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Virginia Tourism Corporation are spotlighting travel’s essential role in cultivating vibrant communities and celebrating how our industry makes the Commonwealth the best state in the country to live, work, and play.
Tourism experiences in cities, towns, and neighborhoods across Virginia bring life and vitality to the state, and with a strong economy fueled by tourism, our industry is the driving force behind the excellent quality of life we have for visitors and residents alike. In 2021, visitors to Virginia spent $25.2 billion, which supported 185,000 work opportunities and contributed $1.8 billion in state and local taxes.
National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition created by the U.S. Travel Association when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for the economy, businesses, and personal well-being.
